Boston Chapel Christian Church
Boston Chapel Christian Church is an independent Christian Church.  Our guide is the Bible.  We are just a short drive in the country between Farmersville and Girard, IL.  Its membership draws from more than 10 neighboring towns.  Members enjoy the serene, casual atmosphere.  The church has many family events throughout the year, and its acreage provides plenty of room for outdoor activities without the usual concerns of traffic.  Check out photos of our activities held this past year.  Usually when you find a small country church you will find one that is aging itself into history.  That is not the case at Boston Chapel.  We are excited to know that God is still moving in the lives of our church family each day.  We continue to see God work as He has in our past, and we are comforted in knowing He will do the same in the future.

Join us in our journey!  We always look forward to having people become a part of the great work He is doing here!  Our door is open, and we hope you will experience Jesus the same way we do each and every week.

HISTORY

On the 2nd Lords day in February, AD, 1873, a group of about 80 brothers and sister united in organizing a Church of Christ at Boston School House; pledging themselves to God and each other to faithfully uphold and maintain said church and to promote its peace, unity and prosperity. The deacons elected by those people purchased an acre of property directly east of the school for $50 in September of 1873. On this land a church was constructed and dedicated early in 1874.
Church records show that many early preachers came by train from Eureka College to preach and sing on weekends.  Members would go to town to pick them up and provide lodging for the weekend.  Since that time, more than 135 years ago, the congregation at Boston Chapel Christian Church continues to strive to fulfill the promises made by its founders.  The faith that was shown by them and the vision they had for tomorrow is still present in today's congregation.  Their yearly meetings which recorded the past and told of their plans for the future, tell about how they took pride in their church and because of their continued desire to provide a nice place for wor ship improvements were made through the years.   In our fast paced world today, we look back and marvel at the pleasure that came from new hitching posts for the horses, the first carpet on the floors, and electric lights.  When the fellowship hall was built and new classrooms added, the congregation again showed their faith. God continues to bless us here at Boston Chapel. We have plans for the future, just as our forefathers had plans long ago.
